Sense of Place Architecture (SOP Architecture) is a young and innovative architecture and interior design studio based in Vienna, Austria dedicated to unconventional, aesthetically enticing and user-friendly design.

Founded by Carmen Dumitrescu in 2022, SOP Architecture embodies her belief that architecture and especially interior architecture should be deeply rooted in its surroundings.

Our purpose is to create spaces with a strong identity that reflect this feeling of belonging not just through design and regional materials but also through storytelling and user experience.

We focus on living-as-a-service solutions that cover the entire spectrum between classical hospitality and the residential sector: serviced apartments, elderly living, student residences, hotels, co-living & co-working concepts, just to name a few.

We are passionate about raising the quality of our build environment by taking sustainability as a primary concern and social ecology as a guiding principle.

Carmen Dumitrescu is an architect & designer with an extensive international experience, having studied and worked in Austria, Romania, Spain, and Switzerland. Prior to founding her own studio, she worked for 10+ years at Archisphere, first as an architect and later as a managing partner. There she specialized mainly in premium segment

hospitality projects, but also in exclusive private residences.

During her almost 15 years of professional experience she took up different positions covering a wide range of tasks and responsibilities from concept design and competitions to project architect and management.
